Kamishibai:
Kamishibai is known as paper thread, and a tradition of picture story telling. The people would sell candy, etc. and tell these stories with a wild imagination so the ones listening could get a full effect of what the story was really like. This was a major way in the 1930's for artist to make money during the hard financial times. Later in time when the television came out Kamishibai didn't fully die out but instead were told for educational purposes. Today as we now have television and many more hightech ways Kamishibai will always have a place.

Great summary of the article! Thanks (anne)

Popular Culture and the Media
By: Margaret L. Anderson & Howard F. Taylor
This short story mainly focused on the way people use tv as a main source of entertainment. A very small percent read a book or even listen to music. TV shows are a main talk as people work their job throughout the day. Over the past years people depend on tv too much for entertainment. They also watch the news and shows and it gives them a different aspect on the real world.

I just started reading this story but so far it's about a batchelor rector who lives in a small town. He prays everyday to be a blessing to someone. Then a black mud-cake dogs comes to him, just as friendly as possible and licks him right in the face. He then tries pushing the dog away.

This short summary is about the differences in the male and female human skeleton. I read that the male skeleton is larger than the female. There are also many differences in the skeletons as to how they determine the sex as male or female. There is a method they use to complete the full process.

The Road Not Taken
By: Robert Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim
Because it was grassy and wanted wear,
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I marked the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

New Leader for Egypt
In my spanish class we discussed and read the topic of Egypt fighting for a new leader. The way the people are being treated is awful. Obama is trying to help them find a new leader, but the USA is also at risk because of this and could be sent to war, which is something out country doesnt need. In result of all this the oil is becoming very limited and how gas prices are subjected to rise in the next couple weeks.

Is Facebook Fad Ending
By John R. Quain

This article is about the ways Facebook usage has changed. Facebook started off as a friendly social network, but has now turned in to a place for cyberbully, and most of all DRAMA. It has become so over populated in the past year. Studies have shown it is no longer a fun place to catch up with friends and definately isn't safe to find a date. It is honestly a way tostay up in other peoples business. I don't see Facebook lasting much longer.

The Child Called It
By: Davre Pelzer

This is a story about a young child who call of his childhood was neglected by his mother. He was starved and beat like a slave. She treated his siblings with much more respect then she did him. He was then placed into foster care which was the end to his childhood abuse. The amazing thing to me about this book was the author who actually wrote the story was the victim in the book. After reading the story it really made me realize how easy my life was and still is today.

The Language of Foreign Trade
By: The New York Times

This passage was mainly about the fact that so much international trade happens and mostly the Americans can only speak English and no other language that these foreign traders speak. If we don't understand their language then we dont really understand what their demand for preoducts is. Studies showed that over one thousand students studying business, only 17% were taking an international language course. I believe that more people should learn other languages so the whole world will be able to communicate alot easier.

Physical Science: An Inregraded Approach
By: Contemporary Publishing

After reading this it was about the way people accept information from authority, and how other people accept the information they read from a newspaper, and what our teachers and friends tell us. Scientists of course do not accept information from authority. They take what they think is right and go with that. They gather information carefully and check it before they actually accept it.

This section was about the "college days." It focuced on how students think that college are the best years of your life. In reality they are the stressfull years of your life. Fashion Industry Grapples with Designer Knockoffs
Connect College Reading

This section was about the high priced clothes being copied by the knockoffs which cost 1/2 the amount. Designers are getting mad and actually suing the companies who are taking their ideas of clothes and making them and then selling them at a much lower price before they can even get their line of clothes out. People don't wanna pay as much as they people assume they want to. So of course buyers are going to buy the outfit thats the cheapest.

Connect College Reading

I read about Dr. Wansink, who does experiements in the psychology of overindulgence. He studied about the way people eat food. He discovered that some people don't even eat because they are hungry but eat for many other reasons. One example he discussed was about people going to the movies. Everyone just automaticlly gets popcorn. It doesn't matter who gets the large or small bowl, they are both going to finish it off, hungry or not.

She grew up and would play barbie dolls with her friends, but she always was interested in the the type of car that barbie should drive. As she got older she finally went to the Jim Russel Racing Drivers School, and spent 3 days racing at a speed of 120mph. After she finished she was able to go to a spa.

Emotions Management
Connect College Reading

This section I read was about the difference in emtions that people encounter. Some people expect to be happy on their wedding day but turn out crying by the end of the day. Then by the time they make it to the altar their face is filled with a big smile. Another example was getting a phone call their a family member close to you has passed away. You wanna break down and cry the minute you hear the news but instead walk away without sheading a single tear.

How Are People Happy
Connect College Reading

This section is about the many ways that people are happy. The different things that make people happy. An example would be like ways you make money make you either happy or sad. The age you are, if you are married or divorced. In my opinion I do not believe that money can make any person less or more happy. Your lifestyle and the way you choose to live depends on your happiness.

New Puppy

This was about the adopting of a new puppy. Sometimes going to a pet shop is the only way people choose to buy a new puppy. But the animal shelters are getting very over populated and it is so much cheaper to adopt a pet there than it is to actually spend $300 on a new pet. Same when it comes to rescuing a dog. The advantage of buying a mutt is that these dogs are more healthier than most dogs. That what every family needs a a cheap, healthy pet.

Why Do I Do This
Ashley Lipscomb

Why do I study all hours of the night?
Why do I put up such a fight?
I do it because one day I will celebrate new baby born.
And, one day help a family mourn.
It makes me have courage and determination.
It teaches me how to handle my dissatisfaction.
Some people will curse or bless you.
But every day they will teach you something new.
That is why I study all nght.
And, why I put us such a fight.
Because one day, a Nurse I will be.
To help people like you and me.
